Though our goal is save as many teeth as we can, sometimes a tooth cannot be saved and needs to be extracted (pulled). At Sager Dental, we have performed hundreds of tooth extractions. An extraction is done by providing a profound local anesthetic to make sure the tooth or teeth in question are completely numb. We then carefully remove the tooth, any diseased tissue, and contour the socket bone to help facilitate healing. Prior to any extraction, you will know the exact cost of the procedure so there are no surprises.
Some extractions can be done the same day as your visit (please see our LIMITED Oral exam page) and others sometimes require antibiotic treatment prior to the extraction. For patients who are having teeth extracted per the request of their orthodontist due to crowding, we only need a letter verifying which teeth need to be removed.
Occasionally, parents will ask us to remove a loose baby tooth that just wont seem to come out. We do offer this procedure as well, but we generally only recommend this if the loose tooth is interfering with daily life or causing pain.
If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort due to a tooth that may need to be removed, please give us a call (409) 200-2539 and schedule your appointment ASAP. The longer we wait to extract a tooth, the more difficult it generally becomes.
